The Ivy Edge partners with students and families to create individualized service plans designed to meet the specific needs of each student in the highly competitive college admissions process. The work is designed for maximum effectiveness to ensure that each student is competitive in selective applicant pools. Each of the service plans cover some, if not all, of the following areas:

Long-Term Engagements
All service plans offered by The Ivy Edge are long-term engagements. Each service plans ends on May 1st of the student's senior year, traditionally known as College Decision Day. The service plans are not based on billable hours and allow for flexibility of engagement; students may schedule whatever amount of sessions needed to achieve their goals.
Students meet on a bi-monthly basis during the course of the engagements. The hours listed in the plans below assume an average of twenty (20) weeks in high school semester, and an average of ten plus (10+) consulting hours each semester (with the exception of the Senior Year Plan). Plan recommendations are based on when students and families choose to engage the services of The Ivy Edge.
The Freshman Year Plan (Fall/Spring)
This service plan consists of eighty plus (80+) consulting hours if starting in the fall semester or seventy plus (70+) consulting hours if starting in the spring semester. The Freshman Year Plan focuses on academic planning and social development, and helps students in the following areas:
The Sophomore Year Plan (Fall/Spring)
This service plan consists of sixty plus (60+) consulting hours if starting in the fall semester and fifty plus (50+) consulting hours if starting in the spring semester. The Sophomore Year Plan focuses on extracurricular activities and leadership development, and helps students in the following areas:

- establishing trust for a successful engagement;
- assisting class selection and choosing electives;
- monitoring social integration into high school culture;
- encourage involvement and participation in extracurriculars; and
- helping with relationship development & project ideation.
The Sophomore Year Plan (Fall/Spring)
This service plan consists of sixty plus (60+) consulting hours if starting in the fall semester and fifty plus (50+) consulting hours if starting in the spring semester. The Sophomore Year Plan focuses on extracurricular activities and leadership development, and helps students in the following areas:
- helping client develop passions and interests;
- advising on seeking and/or creating leadership opportunities;
- aligning academic interests with collegiate/professional goals;
- emphasizing development of service opportunities; and
- making recommendations for summer engagements.
The Junior Year Plan (Fall/Spring)
This service plan consists of forty plus (40+) consulting hours if starting in the fall semester and thirty plus (30+) consulting hours if starting in the spring semester. The Junior Year Plan focuses on distinguished excellence and standardized test prep strategy, and helps students in the following areas:
- assisting clients on developing list of possible colleges;
- advising on standardized testing strategy;
- encouraging pursuit of distinguishing individual projects;
- aligning coursework and extracurriculars with collegiate goals; and
- reviewing and solidifying summer plans.
The Senior Year Plan
This service plan consists of twenty plus (20+) consulting hours and starts toward the end the junior year or the summer before the senior year. The Senior Year Plan focuses on the college application process and scholarship opportunities, and helps students in the following areas:
- assisting in building college lists and college visit prep
- advising on Common App to monitor checklists & deadlines
- editing and reviewing personal statement & supplemental responses
- proofreading applications prior to submission; and
- preparing for college interviews, if needed.
Hourly Engagements
Engagements that begin after October 1st of an applicant's senior year are considered on a case-by-case basis.
College, Graduate & Professional Students
While our focus is primarily on high school students, some of our services have also been used by college students seeking their first professional job or applying to graduate or professional schools. Our services have also been used by graduate and professional students applying for jobs and/or fellowships.
