The Freshman Year Plan
The freshman year is the foundation year for success in the college admissions process. While applying to college may be a few years away, freshman year is the year students can start putting fundamentals in place, such as strong study habits, and identifying passions and interests.
If a student has had a successful academic experience in middle school, freshman year is when they should build upon this success and start taking the most challenging classes possible. Students should also start to integrate into the high school culture by participating in one or two extracurricular activities that are aligned with their interests, and will help them build community.
The Freshman Year Plan focuses on supporting students with academic planning, social development, and extracurricular participation. The Freshman Year Plan also supports students in the following areas:
This service plan consists of 80 session hours if starting in the fall semester, and 70 session hours if starting in the spring semester.

- establishing trust to achieve a successful engagement;
- monitoring social integration into high school culture;
- encouraging participation in extracurriculars and trying out new things; and
- assisting with relationship development and project ideation.
